I have been using a Canon 10D and have really enjoyed using it, but I am upgrading to a Canon 20D and can't decide if I should keep the 10D as a backup or sell it and invest in a new lens. What do you guys think? Thanks.

It looks like a used 10D body in Excellent Condition can be bought for around $265 now (with a 60 day warranty) from a reputable vendor of used gear like keh.com. So, you may get less selling it yourself.

Canon 10D bodies at keh.com

If you rely on having a camera, it's always a good idea to have a spare (especially if you're buying a used 20D and don't know what it's been through).

I think your right. I don't rely on a camera to get through the day, but I would hate to be without one. Thanks. for the advice.

It's a tough question, the only way to answer it is to work out where the biggest gain will be. What lenses do you have? Do you feel there is a gap in the lenses you have that you want to fill?

If you do have a real gap then filling it with a new lens might be really helpful. However I would agree, it is good to have a spare camera around for me I often shoot with 2 cameras so I have quick access to lens options.
