I'm looking for a compact camera that still has a few manual settings available. Anyone know of a good compact that takes great pics that will still allow me to "tinker" a bit? Price range $200-300, possibly something a tad larger than 3x zoom. Thanks so much!

have you checked out the Panasonic Lumix TZ5? its my favorite "compact" camera, in my opinion it takes great pics and it has 10x optical zoom. its also right between your budget. and my favorite feature (when i use it) is the HD movie mode, a nice plus. try checking it out, maybe you'll like it.
