I have a friend that is dying from cancer and only has a few months. she has small children and I wanted to get her a camera that takes decent video so she could leave her words for them to help get them through these tough times to come
I was initially looking at camcorders but they are a little out of my price range and thought a camera might serve the purpose. I could then burn to cd or dvd for her

I do have an older camcorder that I was going to lend her. uses VHS-C tapes but was told quality would be compromised if I try to burn to dvd using pinnacle.
so 2 questions

1) which camera would be suitable for decent video

2) anyone think the old camcorder with burning to dvd with said software would be ok. I thought of putting on cd/dvd cause I would assume tapes do eventually get ruined.

time is of the essence

thanks so much.

have you checked out the sanyo xacti's or aipteks? those are pretty good camera hybrids. oh also, the flip video camcorders are also good. my best wishes to her and her children.
