Hey all,

I'm looking for a camera which can handle taking decent shots of action sports (climbing, Whitewater Kayaking, Mountain Biking....etc...). However, as it will be coming with me to do these activities, it cannot be too large or too expensive (read, less then $300). Because of these limitations, I have been pretty much looking at superzooms, particularly the Kodak z1012 IS and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 but I am open to others.

Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

fett-

Either the Kodak Z-1012 or the Panasonic FZ-28 are good candidates. However, you must keep in mind that neither of these two cameras are indestructible or waterproof. They are not designed to be dropped.

The Z-1012 has a slight advantage in the sports category with its 3" LCD, and on the LCD screen ability to making quick camera changes to ISO, Flash, Shutter Speed, etc with the command dial, without the need to go into the camera to make the changes.

However, keeping in mind those limitations, either camera could do a good job for you.

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply!

And yeah, I know that they aren't indestructible at all, it seems like those that are are less suited to actually taking good shots, though, or are far out of my price range. Thus, pelican case will be a necessary investment.

Well, fett-

Are you all set then? Which camera did you choose? I really think that the Kodak Z-1012 could do a nice job for you. PM me and I will tell you how to get a discount on Kodak's website.
