I am considering the purchase of a touch screen compact camera and would like to receive any comments and recommendations from forum members.

Please take the trouble to reply if you have any experience on this subject as I would like to be fully informed before taking this route.

My last posting related to this subject has to date got zero response.

All comments gratefully accepted

Thanks in advance Ramonford

Sorry your prior thread got no replies. None of my cameras have had a touch screen, but I have played with a few by Nikon and Sony in the stores. This is mostly a matter of personal preference, a good number of photogs just want nothing to do with them. I don't find touch screensall that bad. My view is that they would work out fine for a user who keeps the camera in it full Auto mode most of the time. A user who is not inclined to make adjustments frequently.

Again, a preference issue, but I have noticed that different brands handle the controls differently. Some just use the usual control icons scattered around the image preview. Make them hot spots for your finger. While Nikon, and maybe others, dedicate a margin at the sides of the screen for control boxes. These do not float over the image like a normal LCD display. My preference is for this margin style for the control hot spots.

no help Kelly
