This appears to be local. The Canadian link said they don't ship outside of Canada:

If you are in the USA, buy from the USA. Less problems with warranty and potential for being scammed etc.

In the competitive world of cameras there is b & hand then there are the rest. Some of the rest are quite good. Some are not. Some are downright scammy. And others are pure scum. If a vendor is trying to undercut the B&H price you need to step back and take a good look at the vendor.

In fact, before buying from any vendor, you need to check out the vendor.

Of course you know BB, WallyWorld, Sears, Office Depot, Staples, Dell etc. These are all big name vendors. Their prices are usually solid, ifnot always great. IF the big box store is the same price as B & H, you have found the going rate for the camera. There are manufacturer price controlsand volume discounts which means WallyWorld and B & H are usually going to be at the best end of the price structure and nobody (not even Costco or Amazon) are going to beat that price for more than a few moments in time.

Soooo,if WallyWorld is $700 andB&H is 699.99andslime bucket Broadway Photos latest spawn is advertising the camera for $500 you gotta ask yourself HOW and WHY. Don't worry, you won't pay $500, and if you do pay only $500 it won't be a legit camera (most likely agrey market without no USA warranty or a rebuild with a very limited warranty being sold as a new camera with full warranty).

Welcome to questionable.

Check http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Abe_s_of_Maine

Not a horrible score. Not the best. Check the dissatisfied customers. Even some of the semi-satisfied customers are not exactly thrilled with their buying experince from Abe's.

BTW,Abe's has not been located in Maine sincethe 80's. For much of the 80's, 90's and until recently Abe's was operating out of a lovely Brooklyn NY storefront:

The new store (in New Jersey) is a big improvement over the old store:

PS: Abe's is also known as Cameras and Electronics.com, Family Photo and Video.com andFamily Cameras.com according to sheddingsomelight.com

Ahh, thanks for the advice and heads up. Also thanks for the link to B&H, here's what I've found:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...449066&Cis=REG

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Si_a_k_a_.html

Would it be better to get the D80 vs XSi since the D80 kit comes with 2 lenses? Thanks

Your link for the Nikon is not an active link.

But I did the searching for your most likely Nikon choice.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html

The Canon link you posted is a kit (includes memory card and camera bag.

Deluxe Kits only confuse the priceissues.

Here is the Canon with just the basic lens:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Si_a_k_a_.html

for only $679.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html

is the Nikon with single lens for $750.

There is a difference in the basic lens which makes the Nikon a bit more $.

B&H sells the body onlyfor each camera for $590. Gives you a clue that there is little "street" difference between the cameras.

Some are going to say buy the Canon, others the Nikon.

Personally I don't like the feel of the entry Canons and would much rather hold a bigger Canon such as the 40D or 50D OR I would rather handle the Nikon D80 or D90. Which means, comparing the Canon XSi or Nikon D80, I am going to grab the D80 every time.

Better camera? No, better camera for me.
