hello again. i am purchasing a used d80 from b&h. how do i know its not gray market and how many clicks its had? help please! it also has 18-135 lens and supposed to be 9+ condition. thanks again, len. p.s. its on a hold. the sales guy said he didn't know, and i can download manual, and hardware?

B&H is a very reputable vendor, and they also have a good return policy on used gear (15 days) + a warranty (30 days with digital).

You can find out how many shutter actuations on most Nikon dSLR models by using an EXIF reader that can interpret the proprietary maker notes section of an image's EXIF. Opanda iEXIF is one example (it's free):

Nikon USA will know if it's gray market or not by the serial number (which you will probably need to download drivers, firmware updates, manuals, etc.).

well i did it, & received my d80 today. it came from b & h in 24hrs. you guys are good! thanks for all the advice. now........how do i use it :?? i guess i'll go to nikon dslr section.

thanx jim, i didn't get the manual or cd. i was going to register the # @ nikon, but they said you can't return it then. it seems pretty mint and i wanted to check the clicks and ser.#..i took a few pics per easy start @ nikon. i really like it, and it seems brand new. p.s. i hope i can learn the d80 faster than i can type. (sn 3225570)

does anyone know where to get user manual and nikon nx? should my sn be registered? i have a sd extreme111 4gb card is that ok? thank you.
