I'm planning to buy a Sony DSLR A300 from here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SONY-Alpha-DSLR-A300-10-2MP-DIGITAL-CAMERA-8G-CF_W0QQitemZ110383220672QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital _Cameras?hash=item110383220672&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1 4&_trkparms=72:1234|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1 |293:1|294:50

esophic seems to have quite high ratings in ebay.

Am I right in assuming that the bundled items in the following deals are quite useless?
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SONY-Alpha-DSLR-A300-DIGITAL-CAMERA-3-LENS-KIT_W0QQitemZ110381054808QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigita l_Cameras?hash=item110381054808&_trksid=p3286.c0.m 14&_trkparms=72:1234|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1308|301: 1|293:1|294:50

Looking forward to your help!

Thanks

I would go for the first deal. The non-kit lenses in the second deals are bad. I got similar ones before.

Sony fixes prices. These deals are lower than Sony's own prices, so I think these are eithergray market or hot.

Some of the feedback is from people that got gray market products, so I'd steer clear.

Definately don't go for the second deal. The $50 for the 2 extra lenses is more than they're worth.

Here is the vendor's own website"

http://www.eshopic.com/default.asp

There is an address on the website, it is a miniwarehouse complex.

The vendor's website lists 4cameras for sale. Actually everything sold by the vendor is listed on the front page of the website. Yes, all 6 items.

With regards to warranty:
  • All BRAND NEW items come with 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty [/*]
  • All Refurbished items come with 3 month Manufacturer Warranty [/*]
  • Buyer can return item to us within 30 days of purchase [/*]
  • After 30 days, buyer should claim warranty from Manufacturer
[/*]

BTW,not all manufacturer warranties are 1 year. Some are less, some are more and yet this vendor is stating a blanket warranty of 1 year for new goods.

Typical ebayer. 1000's of postive feedbacks, but the real world looks far different.

Actually, they have another that doesn't appear on the front page. Click on the "Product Index" link on the bottom of the page, and you'll see the list. The seventh item is a refurbished Garmin NUVi 760 GPS unit. (BTW, the Canon XSi is also refurbished.)

I would be willing to attribute some of this to a small start-up, and give him or her the benefit of the doubt. But the nevative feedback about the gray market sales and the heavily discounted Sony products would keep me from spending my money.

I agree that one should proceed with caution in big ebay purchases. However, I have seen some discounted Sony DSLR's from reputable retailers. They were advertised as being brand new with USA warranties. Yes, if you can, do some research about theperson or store you are buying from.

I know this was an exceptional case, but I got a Sony A200 with kit lens for less than $390 from Circuit City in its closing days. They were selling A300's, A350's, and A700's at big discounts, too, much cheaper than at the Sony site.

Thanks for the views. Will stay away.

I almost got a A300+Sony original bag+4 GB+Lens Cleaning Kit from butterfly photo for 516$ , but they cancelled the order since it was "out of stock".

And I thought they had a high rating on resellerratings.com...

Mighty pissed!

Butterfly Photo has a good 6 Month Rating, but their lifetime Rating is pretty bad.

You may have just caught them on a good day.

I know. This is bugging a bit too much.

How is Jessops?

Can I go ahead and order?

Thanks

Jessops.com is a well respected retailer. They aren't listed in ResellerRatings.com because they're in the UK.

Where are you?
