I'm looking to buy a camcorder to shoot some basic video of an overland holiday i'm planning.

I've narrowed it down to the three cameras listed in the title. I like their size, form factor and ability to back up my Nikon D60 in situations where I don't want to whip out a big SLR for still photos.

Having looked at lots of videos on youtube (thanks fishycomics!) it seems to me that the Aiptek HD GSV (v525) seems to be better quality than the Sanyo HD 700 for a similar amount of money (prices from eBay). Anyone agree or disagree?

The fact that the Aiptek is slightly bigger doesn't really bother me. I've been able to find very little information on the GVS however and i'm wondering if Aiptek products are reliable?

Also, is the v525 (http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=190304972940&C ategory=11724&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%2 6otn%3D1) or the v600 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aiptek-PocketDV-Z600-Definition-Camcorder/dp/B001EZYO70/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12414 46247&sr=8-5) the Aiptek to go for?

The main difference for me looks like it would be the image stabilisation, gyroscopic vs. electronic, no?

Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,
S.h.

Welcome Aboard Stoned Hippy, you found me in the Hybrid section, and sometimes the mods/adm's will move topics to proper locations.

1 The camcorder hybrid is called

the Aiptek Action HD GVS model V5Z5S in the north America Region, Z700 overseas.

If you're after many features the sanyo. in the topics , threads sanyo hd700 is a great write up, as well as the hybrid section.

I be happy to recommend but it's not my $$$ best research.

more pro I go the sany. on the go aiptek.
