You can see plenty of specimen shots from the Z1012 if you browse backwards through the Kodak forum here on 'Steve's'. I have a Z1012, but I marginally prefer my Z712, if you can still find one. I bought the 1012 as a backup for the 712. Both those are remarkable value. I especially like the eye-level electronic viewfinder with live preview, and easy adjustments.

See http://forums.steves-digicams.com/kodak-24/ . There are several relevant threads.

There's quite a bit, well on into the thread at

As I own and use both cameras, the Kodak Z-1012 IS and the Fuji-8000, per I can provide a bit of insight. The Z-1012 IS is clearly the better camera of the two. It is newer by about 18 months, thus it has more advanced technology so it is a better photographic tool..

The Fuji S-8000 was a very good (not great) camera in its day. I would hesitate to purchase a used camera as you have no knowledge of how it was handled and cared for before you laid eyes on it.

Here in the USA, Walmart sells the Kodak Z-1012 IS for $(US) 199.95.

Go with the Z-1012 IS and get a full 1 year guarantee.

[QUOTE=zodiakkk;973512]...sorry, but i cant find Kodak Z1012 .../QUOTE]

Have you tried the online 'Kodak Shop'? That's where I got mine. I talked from the UK to a call centre in S.Africa, and I don't know where they shipped it from, but they delivered it rapidly, on time, at a very low price.

I just looked, and it's still there in the UK version of the shop, about 10% cheaper than the price I paid in November 2008. This may not be true wherever you are, of course.

Try Googling "Kodak shop". It's a great camera, and unbeatable value among current superzoom models.

Good luck!

P.S. The Z8612 is, I think, just like the Z812, but without the electronic viewfinder, which I like very much. You'd have to use the LCD screen all the time. I'd expect it to be hard to tell the difference in image quality for most purposes. If I'm wrong, someone in this forum will correct me, no doubt.

While theoretically the Z8612 has the same lens components as the other Z*12s the reviews I've seen suggest that the Z8612 doesn't perform at that the level of systems with the EVFs.

My Wal Mart no longer has the 1012 but Sams Club still seems to have it available online at $220. Target seems to have it at the list price of $250 as does the US Kodak Store at the same (list) price. Kodak US had a refurb two weeks ago at $190 but it gone now. Based on what I'm seeing in a quick web search the demand may have surged in the last couple of weeks.

Many eBay sellers are selling the Z1012, Kodak refurblished with 1 year warranty, for around $180 with free shipping.

I would want to know who "refurbished" the camera. I trust the camera if Kodak themselves are selling it as refurbished (both my Kodaks were purchased from Kodak as refurbish and they have performed superbly.) When Kodak is refurbishing the camera it's their warranty. On Ebay who's backing the warranty? The seller? Will they be in business 6 mo. from now? I might trust B&H Photo or Adorama but I'm not sure who I'd trust beyond that.
