As far as your problem with the K100 - do you have more than one card? I think that peripatetic has a great point, there's been lots of people with all kinds of cameras that have reported problems that turn out to be connected to the card, rather than the camera.

I will be the third person to agree that the flash memory card may be the root of the problem as well. If Pentax is on your priority list, and your budget is tight, take a look at the Pentax k-2000 camera, which selling brand new with a full guarantee at about $(US)400.00.
