No, I live in the good ol USA. Odd that discontinued models prices are rising - must be a collectors item. I would think that at $230 I could find something at least its equal for a little less?

The Ver-

www.buy.com still shows the Kodak Z-1012 camera in stock. The delivered price is $(US)236.40

Default Try Ebay

I know some people have reservations about buying cameras on Ebay, but I have had good luck.

There are a lot of Z1012's on auction there for less than $200 with free shipping. I think they are refurbished, but Kodak refurbished cameras still have a one year warranty.

Here's one example:

Good luck!

Well....I took the plunge and ordered one from an ebay seller, it says new, never opened and the seller reiterated that, so we shall see what I really get. $210 shipped. But still havent seen my other question answered...do I need to buy a rechargeable battery + charger? I see it comes with a battery but no details. Thanks

The Ver-

I honestly don't remember precisely what came in the Z-1012 box. So I went to the Kodak Z-1012 documentation. Here is what that says comes in the box:

1 camera strap
the Kodak Easy Share Software
the klick 8000 battery
the klick 8000 battery charger

Default KLIC 8000 Battery and Charger

Kevin-

Most of the chargers for the KLIC-8000 sold on e-bay seem to come with cigarette lighter plugs. Mine did. You can always ask the seller a direct question about if the cigarette lighter plug is included with the charger.

I used to be a big advocate for cameras using AA batteries. Today, I no longer want a camera that uses AA. Yes, it is convenient, you can buy them anywhere, they are cheaper (well, that' very debatable), etc, etc. But in my experience, the proprietary batteries perform much much better, specially if you do a lot of flash photography. They are much more efficient recharging the flash and will last longer. They do cost more but in many cases, you can find comparable replacement prop. batteries for a lot less and obtain the same results. I used to carry at least 8 spare AA rechargeable batteries with me (which can be quite heavy). Now I only carry 1 spare battery and I'm good!

Based on our latest findings, The Ver-

You will most probably receive a Kodak branded CRV-3 battery with your new Kodak Z-1012 camera purchase. Yes, that is only a stop gap solution. My suggestion is that you go to www.ebay.com and search for BOTH a KLIC 8000 battery and charger. They are relatively cheap on www.ebay.com. Be selective, as many KLIC 8000 batteries and chargers are offered on www.ebay.com. Get your best deal! and you will be all set.

So please let the buyer beware!
