LOL...congrads....it is a telling post for sure. As for the pix yes i realize that the A230 out shown the Canon. And in the end thats what matters. Since the camera, the XSi, is a higher one then the one reviewed here...I wondered if it would be better. AND worth the extra money. Some how I dont think so...

Hiro...thats a great idea...

anthony_b-

The SD 790 for $21.00 sounds like a real deal. I am sorry to hear that your kit from Adorama is back ordered. Buterfly had the A-230 camera and Sony kit lens at $403.00, and they had stock and shipped immediately.

Default Sony A-230 Using Bounce Flash

Hi there, Folks-

Here a photo I took of Bradley this evening (09/09) with the Sony A-230 equipped with a Sigma 18-125mm lens, at a distance of 17 feet (I measured it Rita). I used bounce flash to light the photo from my Sony external flash.

I cropped the photo quite closely as I wanted you to see the amazing amount of detail in the photo.

Default Sony A-230 Sunset

Finally-

Here this evening's sunset taken with the A-230 DSLR camera. I used Exposure Compensation and decreased the exposure ever so slightly to enhance the colors of the sunset that were beautiful. When we come back I will write a module on Exposure Compensation, so you can understand it more fully. It is 04:49am on 09/10 right now and the name of the game is to get this show on the road and heading toward Portland this morning.

He pointed me to what he thought was good value.

A Canon XSi rebel for $730 (can) it includes 4 gb card as well.

the A230 is $570 and the A330 is $650

The diff I see is 10 mp vs 12.2 mp, live view and perhaps a few other things. I have read a few reviews but haven't seriously studied it.

I also 'think' that IS lens is more of a 'con' then the sonys with IS in the camera...

The question I ask, is relatively speaking is the canon of better value then the sony? (assuming its all within budget)

FWIW I am leaning to keeping the H20 for portability, and having the A230 for creativity.....(shakes head...)

Little john,
Have you checked at Amazon.com? I looked this morning, and the Sony A230 is $479, with 18-55 lens, and the Canon Xsi, 12.2 mp, is $585, with the 18-55 lens. I bought the Canon xsi about a month ago, and I love it, but that was before Sarah Joyce reviewed the Sony! The Canon xsi was $650 when I bought it. I am certainly not trying to steer you away from the Sony, but just thought I would mention Amazon because they have a great return policy, (30 days).

Sarah Joyce, I am still learning from your book, and I hope you and Bradley have a safe and fun trip.
