I missed this part when I read it the first time (see the text just above the chart of the different bundles you can get). Note that the base A230L includes the 18-55mm (you can't buy the A230 without the 18-55mm kit lens right now in the U.S.).

"Save an additional $50 when you shop by phone".

The extra $50 off if you shop by phone makes the bundles better (especially since Sonystyle.com usually charges sales tax and some of the other internet vendors don't, unless they've changed that policy since I checked).

Hi there, Hiro-

When we began teaching digital cameras 10 years ago there was nothing that could be used as a textbook for our students who wanted one. So, I sat down and began writing. With Bradley's help, we produced our own textbook. Since that time, we have revised and updated our textbook, 4 different times.

Hi there, Folks-

As far as I know both www.sonystyle.comm and www.adorama.com still have the Sony A-230 2 lens kit available at $(US) 579.00.

www.bhphotovideo.com has a number of different kits. Have a great day. We are overnighting in Portaland, before flying to Vancouver, BC tomorrow morning to join the ship.

littlejohn-

The Canon XSi is a good DSLR, but it is now being closed out, because it has been replaced by the Canon T1i. IMO it is not worth the added $$, but then, everyone has to make that decision for themselves.

Hi Sarah,

Good to hear from you! Without you, this thread became very slow today. I bet you should be still able to access internet from the ship?

Hiro, my friend-

Yes, you can all the internet that you want on the ship. It just costs $0.75/minute! That is pretty expensive, so we try to minimize our internet usage.
