Both photos were shot in the "p" for programed auto mode. The group shot EXIF data is attached.

Both of the photos are great - especially with no flash , just stage lighting. I am still hoping to purchase the camera. With the A230 can I see my picture after I take it on the lcd screen? Does the A200 have a live view lcd screen?
thanks,
t

T-

(1) Yes, as soon as you take the photo it appears on the LCD screen of any DSLR camera. There are menu choices that adjust the time your photo is displayed.

(2) Neither, the A200 not the A230 have the live view LCD screen feature.

(3) Live view by Sony is the best implementation of Live View among all DSLR cameras. However, Live View, begins on th A330, and it is also available on the A380, A500, and A-550. Once get used to the optical viewfinder on the A200 or A-230, based on my experience, Live View is rarely needed.

Have a great day.

OK, perhaps you are not in any way enarmored with the Sony A200/A230 camera-

That being the case, I can, first of all offer you the Canon XS camera. It is one of the most well reviewed DSLR cameras out there. I had $100 in coupons, so the Canon XS cost just me $410.00.

The Sony A-200 or A230 is a much better camera, but if the Canon brand makes your heart go pity-pat, then we have the Canon XS as well. We really don't want you to think that we only like/ or think about the Sony DSLR cameras ( A200 or A230_) as our examples.

The Canon XS is a very creditable camera. Not quite as good as the Sony A200/A230 IMO, but still a very good camera.

Here are some Canon XS photos that I took today (10/06/09), using the Tamron 18-200mm lens mounted on the Canon XS camera.

Nikon D3000 VS Sony a230......I 've read the nikon uses the same Sony sensor as the A230. Would the IQ be similar between the two ?..with the kit lense ?

You may have slightly different image processing between these models, and metering may differ a bit. But, the results should be quite similar (given equivalent lenses). Shooting raw, I doubt you'd see any difference between them.

With the Sony, some users seem to prefer these settings for a sharper and "punchier" image straight from the camera, while still giving good Dynamic Range

Contrast -1
Sharpness +2
Saturation +2
