Default is the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS a good choice for me?

I'm trying to find a decent, compact camera under $200 I can use for basic family photos, you know, the kids, the dog, the vacation. Something easy to drag around, easy to use in automatic mode, can manually set if desired for a little more control. I have no desire for anything fancy, just want good quality pics, easily and reliably, plug it into my Mac and be done with it.

This looks like a good choice. Iím the type who could easily spend the next two weeks researching something like this but I'm trying to resist the urge and just find something that is a good fit and be done with it. I can get this camera refurbished for about $150, seems like a good deal and a nice unit. I read Steveís review, looks like it fits the bill but I thought I'd plug into the collective wisdom here to see if I'm missing an obvious alternative before pulling the trigger.

Thanks for any advice, folks.

rmathes-

Considering your requirements, the SD 1200 seems to be a good fit. The camera is small, convenient and well liked by its users.

thanks guys, this site rocks. First, just a ton of useful, objective information. Then to be able to top it off with informed comment from the real world via the forums? Awesome. Will be telling others about this great site, thanks again.
