Default DSLR user needs a rugged P&S for baby pics

I shot mainly with my canon DSLR, but my wife needs a new point and shoot for taking pictures of our new baby daughter. She will use this camera on beach trips also where salt water and sand will be an issue. What are some suggestions on a good point and shoot that will hold up to salt water and air and sand and is good for taking baby pictures.

Planters-

It sounds like you are looking for something like the Pentax w-60/W-80. It is the best equipped point and shoot to deal with salt water, sand, and salt air.

the w60 is a great choice.

along with the canon d10 and panny ts1.

don't think you could go wrong with either of those 3.

I second Sarah.

I inherited an older model Pentax ( 6MP) that is waterproof, etc (I'm not sure if the actual make ID) but its great. Takes excellent picturesand full proof with drops, water, sand, etc. It's also great because the lens is built in so as much as my daughter grabs at it I don't have to worry about the lens being affected.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to go with canon d10 because it looks like it only takes 1 sec from start up to take a picture.

I have the G11 and love it so the G10 I'm sure you're wife will enjoy and have fun. Congrats on the decision.
