On low end DSLR, Sony has the best built quality.

This is simply a personal opinion since I have 3 Sony camera of different vintage. The built quality just look solid and well-made despite of the smaller hand grip on the A230 and A330 which may feel uncomfortable to some people. Here are some reviews I have looked at:

samar-

Thing have gone pretty quiet on your thread. Is there anything else we can help you with regarding the Sony A-230 versus the Nikon D-3000?

Have a great day and a happy Thanksgiving.

As an FYI, you can buy a Sony A330 kit (including a tilting LCD and Live View), that includes both the Sony 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses right now for $599.99 (it's a weekly special at sonystyle.com). Here's the link:

If you go with a Sony dSLR like the A230 or A330, I'd probably lean towards the 55-200mm DT lens as second lens instead of the 75-300mm (especially considering that they're practically giving it away in some of the two lens kit deals). The 55-200mm is smaller and lighter compared to the 75-300mm and seems to have slightly better optical quality with good center sharpness throughout the zoom range (and it appears to be well liked by most users).

Hi there, JimC-

Wow! That is a very good deal on the A-330 two lens outfit. I am tempted myself. That Sony 55-200 is one of my favorite lenses.

Have a great day and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi there, JimC-

Here is another good deal. Amazon has the A-500 body only for $699.
