jim007-

This is just a personal opinion, and I have used the FZ-28, the SX-10, the HX-1 and the FZ-35, and among those 4 cameras the FZ-35 would be my choice.

Have a great day.

in general i would agree the fz35 is probably the best bet for most, its smaller and lighter, and is a great performer.

the upside of the sx20 from canon is the ability to canon external flashes with full ettl support. this is only an upside for those that would make use of this feature. also, some ppl love to use AA batteries, which would also point to the sx20is.

Dustin-

There is also a fairly large cadre of folks like me that would rather pass of the AA size batteries and who get a great deal of use out of our slave flashes, while the Canon EX-430 stands idle.

Have a great day.

Carole-

Think that you now understand that noise is more a matter of the ISO selected than of the degree of zoom. I have owned a Canon SX-10 and the FZ-18, FZ-28, and the FZ-35. My choice would be the FZ-35.
