yes, the XSi ant XTi do not have video, the pentax has hd at 720i.

Correct, but the T1i does.

If you go with the pentax, go with atleast a 8gb card since you like to do video, a class 6 or better. HD eats up allot of memory of the card.

Default another superzoom choice

One other choice for a superzoom alternative to the SX20 is the Panasonic FZ35. It doesn't reach quite as far at full telephoto (486mm vs 560mm), but it has less noise in shots taken at ISO 800 and above. Also, it has a wider possible aperture setting at full telephoto (F/4.4 vs. F/5.7). I had the FZ28 and really liked it. The FZ35 also has HD video with stereo mikes.
