Default Looking to replace my new Panasonic ZS3 with Canon Powershot. RECCO?

Im new to this forum but use this site frequently for information. I owned a Canon SD550 but dropped kicked it and its about as good as a paper weight. Looking for a new camera to replace. Was recently given a Panasonic ZS3 for Christmas and have some complaints (I.E. low quality sensor and poor ISO 400 images as well as a slow and hard to navigate playback mode as compared to my old Canon).

I was looking to replace the ZS3 with a Canon powershot (SD990, 980, 970, or the 940). Price doesn't matter. I need something that has more manual settings unlike the ZS3. 24mm - 28mm wide angle and a strong sensor and flash.

I am leaning towards the Canon SD 940?

Could anyone RECCO one of these Canons? Thanks :)

well, the SD940 will give you no more controls than the ZS3, nor will it do any better in lower light.

if your budget allowed, the S90 would be the best choice for manual controls and good high iso performance.

the Fuji F70EXR which I have produces good results at higher ISOs and has a myriad of settings, but keep in mind to get best results you have to use the 5mp mode and spend some time setting your custom settings.

Thanks Hards80! I was looking into the S90 but the flash seems like it would cause difficulty in grip (although this might be just something I would have to get used to - no big deal I guess).

Also - it looks like a piece of crap - cheap ... I guess they are calling it "old-school". I would have hoped they would come up with a stylish body and a new way to place the flash. I do like the camera though and will check this out at a store near me!

One question though - Under the Steve's conclusion for this particular camera, it states "The PowerShot S90 is equipped with a card slot that supports use of SD/MMC/MMC+ cards up to 2GB or SDHC/HC MMC+ cards up to 8GB." Does this mean I cant use my new SanDisk SDHC Extreme 30mb/s 16GB card in this camera?

according to several user reports around the internet, SDHC 16GB cards work just fine in the S90.
