hi everyone ,i am new here and i come with a question.
i am partial to sony cameras and i love them ,that being said i am again looking at a sony camera purchase . i am looking at the sony dsc h20 because it has hd capability. does the h50 have this?i dont think it does. i like to do my research befor i buy so help me out here . which current sony cameras offer hd and do videos too?i just started looking and i am looking at the h20 as of now . maybe if i tell you what my main uses will be you can help me make a good choice . mainly it would be my ebay camera and forum picture posting camera. most times my resolution will be 640by480 for forum posting and ebay pictures. i would like to have hd for future you tube video posting and things like that . this will also be my family event camera for parades/xmas..ect..ect.... how fast can this h20 take pictures? my current camera(fd200..i know,i know..lol)has a small wait time between pics. i have read good things about the h20 . what other sony digitals offer hd ? thanks guys/gals. i love sony cameras so probably no other will do.they do great closeups. ps-i would like to stay with memory stick media |

you are right the H50 only does VGA video.
I really think the H20 will be a great choice. it offers a nice zoom, great image quality, adjustable flash output, and can do nice HD video with zoom during recording. |

Hi there, John-
Welcome to the Forum. We're glad you dropped by. You are correct, the Sony H-20 is the standout in its class it has the best automatic mode and the best built-in flash unit. It is the very first Sony, P+S to do HD video and you can zoom while filming. The video is 720p, so the quality is high. For your E-Bay work the H-20 can focus down to 2 cm with ease and the flash will brilliantly reduce itself for close-up and then extend out to whopping 23 feet of flash range. Flash range is defined as the distance, measured in feet, from the camera to the subject. So the H-20 will handle family events and groups with ease. That is saying a lot, because certain Panasonic cameras only have a maximum 6 foot flash range. Color and contrast are great and, as I mentioned previously, the H-20 has the best automatic mode in its class. That allows you to feel safe if you are handing the camera off to less experienced folks to snap a family photo. Of course the H-20 has all of the scene modes, face detection and the like. It is currently selling on the internet for between $235.00 and $250.00. It is a very safe choice and you can be assured of a quality camera build, excellent Zeiss formula lens, and very good image quality. By the way the H-50 does not have HD video. Have a great day. You can be assured of a full U.S. guarantee by buying from an authorized dealer or through Sony Style.

hhmmmm probably going buy online with paypal and ebay .i am a power seller and a pretty good shopper so i,ll ask the right questions.
for kicks i stopped by the best buy today and looked at the camera . the salesman broke out 3 pictures taken by 3 different cameras and i must say the picture taken by A CANON..was magnificent. now had they taken the same picture with each camera it might have gave it more validity.the canon picture was a much more lit area of the store . these were instore pictures printed on a store pic printer. the canon sx120 picture was outstanding . but i am a sony guy ,the canon was not hd either. they did have other slim style cameras that do hd video but i like a camera with some beef to it . i still like the sony and its features. is there a camera sale section here?i didnt see one. |

john-
No there is no camera sale (used) section on the Forum. In the front as you transition from the Main Menu to the Forums, there is a Best Buy section. Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |

i been watching some hd videos made by the sony hx-1 and they are mighty impressive .
one thing i notice right off the bat is that the hx-1 does not have the zoom noise you hear in the h20 when zooming while filming. does the hx-1 use the same battery as my mavicas?np-f550? i am going to research this camera more .i like the fact there is no motor noise during zooming like the h20 has . and the hdmi output is in a more user friendly place on the hx 1 too. decisions,decisions.....more read time .catch ya`ll soon. lets discuss this. |
