Default Best first camera for cheap.

This is going to be my first camera and don't have too much money. The camera must on the 100-120 usd price range. Also there is not too much variety where I live, I have no option but to buy one of this:
-Sony W180
-Canon Powershot A480
-Olympus FE-46
-Nicon L20

I'm going to use it mostly for taking pictures of landscapes, pictures with friends indoor and maybe even make some videos. I'm willing to learn and adjust setting as required.

I went to check out the Cannon A480 as it has good reviews and it's really big, you can't carry it in your pockets and that's a bit turn down for me, but willing to go for it anyway if the quality of the photos and features are better. The Sony w180 in contrast was very slim. The Olympus FE-46 is the cheaper one and it has 12mpx.

What do you suggest?

Mike-

Welcome to the Forum. We're pleased that you dropped by.

The sub $200 market niche does not have too many cameras of note. The best shot in that market area are the Canon A-480 and the A-1100. The A-1100 offer quite a bit feature-wise for its price point. There are Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony offerings in that market as well, but those brand have been stuck in design quick sand for several years. In fact, some of the cameras on your list are a design generation into the past.

Have a great day.

out of that list. the Canon A480 is better enough than the others to warrant the larger size, it would be my choice from that list.

My fist digicam was the A480's predecessor, the A400. I loved it. It was a great little camera.

I payed 109 us for my canon A590 IS and it does exremely well for the price . It also has manual, aperture ,shutter priority as well as auto modes .I also own a a470 which i like very much but hate the fact that is doesn't have image stablization. You can check images of both cameras on www.flickr.com/adventurer2009 .

I have a 2008 A470-paid $50 second hand for it-has 10mm more in telephoto (132mm) compared to the A480/490/495's 122mm.

Yes, some real bargains can be found in the used camera market.
