Default Which camera should I buy canon sd780 or samsung sl620?

I have used a canon sd1000 for the past couple of years but recently it got dropped and cannot be fixed so I'm looking to buy another camera. I have looked at the canon sd780 and samsung sl620.
The reviews on the samsung have been very good but I also love my canon. If anyone has any suggestions -
I know samsung is fairly new to digital camera compared to canon.

Welcome to the Forum. We're delighted that you dropped by.

These two camera are rather similar. They are both 12mp, they both produce about the same image quality, and do video. The Canon SD780 is a bit more pricey and it is very small with just a 2.5 LCD screen.

In contrast, the Samsung CL620 has a bit more zoom and costs a bit less. However, I would go with the SD780 due to the better HD movie and the better form factor where the controls seem to fall into place quite correctly for my hands.

With either camera, do be sure to use a wrist strap. Either camera is quite small and easily dropped. Also be sure to handle each camera, if at all possible, to see how the cameras fit your hands.

Have a great day.
