Ason12-

The Fuji F-200EXR has the very same problems associated with the Fuji F-70EXR. These cameras do not produce their best quality in the Automatic Mode and there is indeed a substantial learning curve. In short these two camera produce very good image quality when the are adjusted by a series of manual tweaks.

The Panasonic ZS-3 is one of the most popular compact zoom cameras. It has now been replace by a newer model with a full set of both manual and automatic controls. Initially the price on the ZS-3 fell measurably, but then it rebounded.

The new Sony HX-5, selling for $350 is now available from www.sonystyle.com and will be on dealer's shelves by mid March. Canon introduced the new SX-210 this morning (08 Feb) and we should expect additional Canon introductions throughout February. So there are still more new camera coming to market.

Have a great day.

Thanks Again Sarah!

Based on what everyone has said I'm still not 100% sure, these are the things that are most important for me:

Zoom
Outdoor Shots
Video

These are also important but not quite as much:

Good Flash
Good Stabilization
Some Manual Controls
Panoramic Shots
Decent Low Light
Pocketable

With the above, can you recommend a specific camera for me? or perhaps two?

Thanks so much!

for outdoor shots with good zoom and video

the ZS3 is a good choice. the replacement ZS7 offers a better compression mode of avchd lite to save storage space. stereo audio, etc.

the new Canon sx210 gives you more zoom (14x vs 12x), full hd video again, with stereo audio.

either would serve your purpose well and both are pocketable.

Do we have any idea on the prices for the ZS7 or SX210 yet?

panny's zs7 is 399USD
canon's sx210 is 349USD

for 299USD the Panasonic ZS5 offers the same sensor and lens as the ZS7, but loses the GPS tagging and the AVCHD compression in videos. so it still has the HD video, but at normal compression, stereo sound as well (though i am not sure if it is dolby like the zs7)

Hmm, I can currently pick up the ZS3 for about $230, which I believe is a great deal. Would you think the bonus features of the ZS7 would be worth the extra $170?

Thanks!!

Ason-

That is a decision only you can made. For me, I don't think it is worth it.

Yeah, I don't think so either.

Ultimately I think I'm going to go with the FZ-35, I appreciate all of your help!

Thanks

Ason-

The Panasonic FZ-35 is an excellent choice and we have a very active Panasonic P+S folder with a lot of FZ-35 users.
