Also where do you recommend to get lenses at? It would be safer to get them in house instead of ordering, just to avoid damage. Thank you very much.

i feel perfectly safe ordering from a reputable dealer online.

b&h, adorama, amazon, they are all good. KEH has a good used selection if there is an older lens you desire.

That tripod has allot of plastic. It will most likely not hold up too well. You may want to look at a cullmann nanomax if you are looking for a decent low end tripod.

I use a middle grade tripod. Cullmann magnsite 519. The head is all metal. And it is a very well made tripod. I have also used slik pro series tripod. They are very good also. A good middle grade tripod with a pan head will run about 80-125 dollars. All the tripod I mention are grouders also.

Remote, I use one, it comes in handy when you want to take a self photo with a group of friends. And if you are doing night shots and do not have a cable remote shutter release it work fine also to prevent camera shake from pushing the shutter button. With a IR one, you can only trigger it from in-front of the camera. You can get a 3rd party one on ebay new for under 7 bucks. Just do a search on ebay of canon T1i IR remote or canon rc-1 or rc-5.

Another good one is vanguard alta 204AP and up. The 203AP is a bit unstable. There is allot of flex in the legs under a load.

If you are talking about getting a RF wireless remote shutter release, they have much greater range then the IR ones. You just need to attach the receiver unit to where you would normally plug in the cable release. But RF units are allot more money then a IR remote.

The white balance is off on the photo. In P,M,Tv,AV, or A-Dep you can change the WB from auto to tungsten lighting for incondestent light that is in your photo. Or you can do a custom white balance to get the correct lighting.

To do the custom WB. you will need to take a photo of a plain white sheet of paper first in the lighting you are in. The hit the WB and select the last on on the menu. Then select the photo you just too. And it will adjust the WB for the lighting you are in.
