Default What's the best contractors camera

I am looking for an inexpensive point and shoot that does not use AA batteries, has an SD memory card and allows time/date stamp. I need a bunch of these for my crews, thus the cheap requirement. Outside commercial construction use. Please offer suggestions. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. We're delighted that you dropped by.

One contractor that I know is using the Pentax WS-80 camera (shock proof & waterproof) it also takes HD video clips. It averages about $230.00, but I do not believe that it posts a time and date stamp on the face of the photo.

That data is of course available in the EXIF info that is attached to every photo's file, but it is hidden, rather than posted. I checked and it does not post the time and date on the face of the photo, but stores it within the EXIF information as I had explained.

Have a great day.

Well you can find the Pentax WS-80 camera for as low as about $165, and if your buying a number of them you might be able to negoiate a lower price.

Also, there is a utility that will take the date and time from the meta or exif data within the image and burn it into the image for about $30.

I did locate a camera today that will imprint the time and date on a photo. It is the Samsung SL420, it is selling for $110 to $120. Here is how it the photo looks.

Default Construction cameras

Sarah Joyce,
Wow, that Samsung SL420 fits the ticket perfectly. Low price, good basic features, and it burns the date onto the face of the photos. Though the date is available in the photo information, we are required to show it burned onto the photos. So this is the bees knees. Thanks for your help.
