Default Best P&S for Capturing Kids

What would be the best non-DSLR camera to capture kids who don't sit perfectly still? I'm looking at the SD940, S90, SX200 and SX120 (but maybe there's something even better). All have their pluses and minuses, but which would offer me the best chance to capture moving kids? I like to capture them doing their thing, rather than hollering for them to hold still. Thank you!

Thanks a good suggestion, Bob-

However, I am not sure that the OP has budgeted for that level of expense. Perhaps she has, as she specifically mentions the S-90.

Have a great weekend.

akmontgomery-

To get the fastest flash recycle time, you will have to depend on a proprietary battery instead of two AA size batteries. Therefore, the choice is between the Canon SX-200 and the Canon S-90.The SX-200 has the larger and more powerful Lithium Ion battery, therefore it will have a faster flash recycle time.

Please keep in mind that there is a huge feature difference between those two cameras. For me, I would get much more use from the 12X optical zoom on the SX-200 than the S-90 that is limited to 3.8X optical zoom on the S-90 camera.

Have a good weekend.

What about without using a flash? I like how the S90 only pops up the flash when necessary, and have read that the SX200 pops it up no matter what.

What about the fact that the S90 has an aperture of 2.0 - 4.9 and the SX200 is 3.4 - 5.3? I thought that the lower the number the better.

akmontgomery-

I own and active use a Canon SX-200 camera. If you are under the impression that you can take photos of active kids using indoor, normal home lighting. It is just not possible to get the shutter speed that you need for active children under those lighting conditions. Flash is going to be the best way to make those captures.
