Default Back again 50D vs T2i for kids soccer

Sorry to bother you, but I am trying to decide if I went the right direction ordering the T2i. I keep bouncing back and forth on this question. The price difference between the 50d and T2i, both with the 18-55 kit lens, is about $130 (50D higher of course). I will be using this to shoot family and kids soccer games. With a few things out there on the T2i do you think it is close to the 50D for family/sports shooting (I am also getting the 70-200F4). I am not in need of Video, so that is not an issue.

50D gives you a much higher burst rate, so you have a better chance of getting that great shot. And that mated with the 70-200mm f4L it will give you very good results for your soccer games. Both will do the family thing without an issue. If you do not mind a larger camera, the 50D will fit your needs better the the T2i. If it is a bit big and you are willing to give up on the higher burst rate, the T2i or even the T1i will give you decent results in a smaller package.

Well the wife took care of the question. I will be getting the T2i. It was cheaper and it does movies (was not an issue before, but I guess things change). Looks like stores are starting to ship the T2i tomorrow. Hopefully mine is not too far down the list.

congrats on the new T2i, lets us know how it performs. Did you get it a BH? If you do video, you will want an external mic. The internal one that the T1i will pick up the AF motor when focusing.

Well just thought I would close the loop. My new Canon T2i kit (W/18-55) is here. now the fun starts and I really start learning things. I also got the 70-200 F4, an 85 F1.8 and the Metz 48 flash to go with it. Now to keep the wife from seeing the visa bill next month .
