And there is a little removable table on the hood, that will let you use a circular polarizer filter and adjust without having to readjust the camera. You can keep your eye on the subject and just your finger to rotate the cpl
Oh, so the "cpl" is a polarizing filter? I was wondering what that removable flap was about...

So, what do you make of what I said a post or two back about the fact that all the lens hoods I'm seeing on eBay for the Pentax 18-55 kit lens are tulip shaped?

I like tulip hoods, and my brother has that the tulip hood for the 18-55mm that is the pentax knock off. It works just like the pentax one. He get it in 3 days form a US seller

Do the kit lenses (18-55mm and 55-300mm) that come with the Pentax K-x come with lens caps? What about caps for the mount end?

they come with the front, but not a good back cap and only 1 cap.

Ah. I'm looking around the fotodiox_gear ebay store to see if I can find $25 worth of stuff including the 18-55mm lens hood, thereby getting free shipping. They don't seem to have a 55-300mm lens hood. I could get a back cap for the other lens. They also have something that looks like a maybe, a DSLR hand strap. It looks to secure the camera to your hand, preventing you from dropping the camera. Maybe it has other advantages. It looks kind or dorky, but maybe it's worth it if it keeps you from destroying your equipment.

This doesn't say it works with the K-x specifically. Maybe the K-x is too small?

I would get 2 back caps, and camera front caps, and the hood for the 18-55mm, no one has the 55-300mm, I did not know there was a knock off till you posted that link. It is pretty new actually.

I am not a fan of a hand strap, especially if you are shooting with the long lens. I would get a neoprene strap the included strap are pretty uncomfortable.

But if you are willing to wait about 2 weeks, most of the asian seller has free shipping

I thought you said the kit comes with the front caps:

Yeah, I saw those 2 back caps and put them on my watch list. Don't know if fotodiox_gear have a neoprene strap. I think I'll delay paying for the 18-55mm hood I just snagged Buy-it-Now for a few days to see if I can find a full $25 worth of stuff I want from that seller. They have a ton of Pentax items. Being such a newbie it's not easy for me to determine what's maybe useful to me, what isn't. Guess I can delay payment a few days. I don't usually do that, but I will try this time. Don't know the eBay Buy-it-Now rules.

Can you link me to a neoprene strap you like? Thanks.
