Default Olympus Tough 8010 vs. Panasonic LUMIX FT-2 vs. Pentax Optio W90

Still looking for the best possible rugged camera.. any qualified takes on which of the three Title cameras to bet on ?

I am using my camera for running.. so other less rugged but still fast, durable and compact cameras could be of interest ... suggestions are more than welcome !

Anyone ?

Kind regards,

Tor / Denmark

Of those selected, the Pentax W-90 has the better features.

The Pentax W-90 has the best feature set including HD video, three LED lights to brighten up macro shots, and 5X optical zoom. Check ot this link:

Even though this is a little late, I'd just like to point out...

Olympus Tough 8010 : HD videos and 5x optical zoom
Panasonic LUMIX FT-2 : HD videos and 4.6x optical zoom
Pentax Optio W90 : HD videos and 5x optical zoom

So those two points about the Pentax aren't really valid.
The LED lights though are pretty spiffy.
The Olympus is the most everything proof out of the 3 of them though.
It really would just come down to the image quality and controls mostly, which I don't know too much about.

My suggestion was based on the image quality. The Pentax W-90 and the Panasonic FT2 are very close, the "all proof" Tough 8010 come in at the #3 position in image quality.

Other readings on the net clearly suggests that the Panasonic has the best image quality. I really dont understand why the TS1 (FT1) not has been reviwed here on Steve's. Why is that... being the first rugged from Panasonic... and why this fuzzy bias towards the Pentax not even out in previews yet ? I just wonder !

Oh well... how do our three candidates here match against the Canon D10 on image quality... and any rumors about a follow-up from Canon.. any new D-models in the pipeline for 2010 ?

Reviews already pin down the Tough 8010 to the same so-so image quality as the 8000... the model I currently use... with some dissatisfaction, especially when the sun is not out.

The choice is for me now between TS2, W-90 and D-10. Any new comments on which has the best image quality ?

Torr-

You surely could not go wrong with either the Pentax W-90 or the Panasonic TS2. These cameras are designed for operations under severe conditions and to accomplish that goal there are some image quality compromises made to accomplish the severe conditions firstly.

Since the Olympus 8010 is over 14 megapixels and Pentax w90 is 12, how could Pentax be better in image??

I need one also sandproof, since my last cam had broken in the beach. The Pentax says its sandproof, what about Olympus? Is even every waterproof cam also sandproof?
