The Panasonic FZ-35 is the best choice of the group followed by the SX-20.

I agree as long as you don't want to expand to a good external flash later to give better options for shooting both indoors and out. If that is the case then the SX20 takes the lead.

Mark1616 laid it out very clearly and I agree. The hot shoe on the Canon SX-20 does provide the advantage of using almost all of the Canon external flashes.

My choice is to use a slave flash with the Panasonic FZ-35 to achieve the same goal. If you would be kind enough to tell where in the world you live, that is always helpful to us attempting to give you the very best answer to your questions.

Worldwide, the Panasonic FZ-35 has outsold the Canon SX-20 according to a recent tabulation.

chaingangmember-arah Joyce

We have regular posters from India in the Panasonic P+S folder, so I know that the Panasonic FZ-35/38 is available in India.

The FZ-35 and the FZ-38 are exactly the same camera photographically. The only difference is that the FZ-38 has a 29 minute, and 59 second limit on the video recording to comply with the EU legal restrictions. The FZ-35 does not have a video restriction.
