Forgot to add, when viewing the videos, go to full screen mode for better quality.

Well now the wife isn't too concerned with video as she says she still wants to get a separate video camera for herself and for me I'm more interested in the photography part. How do you think the G11 compares to the Sx1 or Sx20 as far as photo quality is concerned?

I would class the G11 as more of a photographers tool then the SX options. You have much better access to the controls that a more traditional shooter would want, you are also getting better noise handling throughout the entire ISO range gaining you about 1 stop in quality allowing the G11 to get better results especially in lower light.

The G11 only has standard video and the range of the lens isn't as much so you are losing out on convenience but gaining quality. So this is sort of an intermediate position between SX and dSLR, although you are still not able to really upgrade the system like you can with a dSLR. The lens on the G11 is going to be too short for nearly all wildlife situations.
