It sounds like you have found a very work-able solution for yourself. The FZ-35 is a very good camera. I know you will enjoy it. Post some photos when you have a chance.

Default picture comparison

Now that I got the FZ35 I can compare some pics.
Shot from the same location, but bout a month apart. The FZ35 just straight out of the box after delivery.

HX5 followed by FZ35
