Is it being discountinued?
I called Crutchfield and they gave me the discount so I am getting the lens for 296.00. They expect them in, but no real date.
I looked on Tamron's site... looks like they are only making the VC for Canon and Nikon at the moment. I guess eventually they will make a non-VC.

I haven't seen any announcements to that effect (18-250mm being discontinued). Yea... it doesn't look like Tamron is offering VC in Sony mount. I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere, but I was probably thinking of Sigma's OS (Optical Stabilization) lenses, as Sigma is offering some OS lenses in Sony mount now.

But, it appears that the Sony's in body stabilization might outperform it anyway (at least in newer models like the A550), at least based on one test. :-)

Here's a thread discussing stabilization that you may find of interest.

@ Penolta - i haven't removed anything so not sure what you mean.

But back to the original question: i was just wondering why you had your heart set on the A550 so much?

I think he meant for you "not to remove any posts" not that you actually did.

Right. ok. Well thanks for the heads up Meanstreak.

@ Penolta - Please do not take photos of the girls locker room with your tele-photo lens as many of the girls do not like it.

Well, there is no text or image in any of your earlier posts in this thread - they are all blank. Is that what you did?

p_loadwick selected a text color (black) versus using the default text colors in his earlier posts here.

As a result, if you're using the Dark Theme, his posts are not visible (since you end up with black text on a black background).

I started to mention that to him earlier when he started posting here. But, since most forum members are now using the new Light Theme, I forgot to point out that changing the text colors from defaults can cause issues with other Themes.

If you change your Theme to the new Light theme (or just highlight the text in his posts using your mouse), then you can read it.

Thanks, Jim. I use the black theme because the photos look better on that background - I imagine new users don't even know it is available. The highlighting works fine. This is the first time I have encountered this - I will have to remember that in the future.
