I've been going through a lot of the same analysis for myself and I ended up buying the Fuji HS10 with 30x zoom.

It has a learning curve to it, though..

The next best alternatives for me were Panasonic FZ38 and Fujifilm S200EXR..
If you don't need the zoom, I'd say Panasonic LX3..

Mate, I'm not into DSLR at all !! ....Maybe after I get hands on experience with ma new cam I'll wander into the DSLR territory....So that rules out S200EXR I guess....

the FZ35 is top of my list ..... Just want to make sure I buy the best !!

ljlijash-

Welcome to the Forum. We're delighted that you dropped by.

The Panasonic FZ-35/38 is an excellent super zoom camera providing it is within your budgeted range. If you need a camera at a lower price and can find a Sony H-20 that would be your next best choice. Both are very good cameras and widely available in India.

Have a great weekend.
