orenmd-

Since the A-450 is not available. If holding down costs is a priority, the Sony A-230 along with the Sony 18-55mm kit lens and the Sony 55-200mm make a very good (an excellent focal length range) and very cost effective kit.

Oren, you haven't indicated your whereabouts, but if I'm not way off target you would be better off with Canon or Nikon - lower prices, better availability, larger selection of accessories and better service.
PM me, if you are interested, and we can try to work something out.
cheers,
Alex

Still thinking and it seems like I will have to wait for a month for the A230 supply. What about the Canon 450d?

for your 600 dollar budget, are we talking about just one lens or are you looking for 2 lenses?

If just one lens, you have a bunch of options.

Pentax k-x
Olympus e620
canon XSi

The 450D is an excellent camera for photographing active children. Better, in fact than the available models from Pentax and Sony.

Thanks

it is very basic entry level dslr. It does not allow you to use all nikon lenses without motors in it. You really do not want to shoot at any iso higher the 1600, as it gets a bit noise.

It is pretty evenly match up with the A230. But behind the pentax k-x or 450/XSi or e620

Sorry, Oren-

The D-3000 cannot hold a candle to the 450D, or even the Olympus E-600.
