For that price for the zs3, I would get the zs5, it is less expensive. And the difference are very minimal

Thank you all for your time

Sarah, have a safe & good trip. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

Shoturtle, I think I actually will pass on ZS5 because I don't know well enough to use the manual settings. I think I might be better of with ZS3 due to lack of knowledge. It sounds it would be more user friendly for me.

actually it is the same, the manual setting are just there if you want. You do not have to use them. The standard interface are very similar between the zs3 and zs3. I compared them at the stores. But both are really good cameras.

I just read where you were planning to get the zs3. Not the best company to deal with, they were one of the companies that were fine by NYC for bait and switch couple years back.

I really would go with a better company if they have it, but the problem is that all the good company have sold out of them as they discontinue the zs3 with the launch of the zs5 and 7.

Cameras store to deal with best online is adorama, amazon, bh, 17th street photo, cameta, buy.com. I would check the retailer rating tools form smaller name online stores rating.

between the zs3 at that price, and the zs5 from amazon I would get the zs5

Oh-thanks for the warning. Trying to find the best deal and the reliable source is a delicate balance indeed. LOL

I understand you still think ZS5 is better than ZS3 and I do get your comment about the manual features... but what about my posting on #52. Can you please check that out and share your comments for those arguments as well?

No actually they are about the same, I just think you will get a better deal on the zs5. As the supply of the zs3 is about to run out. That is all.
