Blessed-

We are about to get on the road for our 10 hour drive. You are correct. The ZS3 will be the better camera for you, with a better LCD screen. I own those cameras. Shoturtle is a great guy but he does not own the ZS series cameras. No offense shot turtle, but I have the hands on advantage in this case.

Go with your gut Blessed and good luck.

Thank you all for your time

Sarah, have a safe & good trip. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun.
I just picked up a used one at B&H for $179.

gjtoth, I have seen deals for the used ones, but how do you know that it is not going to be a lemon.... I mean how do you trust? I am just a little worried to buy any electronic item that is used.
Sounds like you had a great deal though Enjoy!

B&H checks out all their used equipment and stands behind it with a warranty (not that I've ever had to use it).

Have you bought other used items from them before? I guess it comes down to prior experiences and if you dealt with them and trust that they won't do you wrong, then I can see how buying used would be great.

My problem is since I don't know any of these companies well enough, I am a little concerned when it comes to used items. I appreciate your comments though. Having references from experienced buyers like you, helps me big time.

I looked ath B&H site and they didn't list any other used ZS3. Do I have to call them and ask or would they have listed used item on their website (if they had any)?

B&H is probably one of the most respected camera retailers in the world. As is Adorama.

I think I may have snagged the only one they had however, they are always receiving more. I checked a few times a day until I saw the camera I wanted at the price I wanted (or pretty close) to pay. You can save a LOT of $$$$ if you do that.

I would not buy used, I would look for refurbish if they are available. At least you get a 90 day warranty.

I found one used ZS3 through craigslist. The seller says that he owned the camera for 6 months only and took about 200 pictures with it. He is selling the camera with everything that came with the original box. He was selling it for $230 but when I asked him if he would accept $200, he said yes.

What do you say? Should I go for it? Or do you think it is too risky and I should just pay more and get the brand new?

I am not a fan of used. I know how much uses my cameras get. But it is a good camera.
