I agree. The Lumix TS2/FT2 sounds really big and bulky on paper, but I wouldn't really know for sure unless I actually held onto one. Fortunately, there a specialty camera store nearby that carries both models (unlike Best Buy - my initial option).

I'll also be looking at the Panasonic Lumix DRC-ZR1 and Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR. These two are appealing due to their lower price points ($200 for the ZR1 and $230 for the F70EXR). They're not waterproof like the TX5 and TS2/FT2 are, but I'm beginning to wonder if the waterproof feature is worth the additional $100-130. A resounding yes for my trip next month, but very little use from then on.

Hopefully I can make my decision soon. I've always been one to do very thorough research before buying electronics (it has to be THE one) - usually a huge waste of time since technology advances so quickly and because my preferences change. Right now, I'm not too concerned about HD video-taking, but who knows what I'll think 3-6 months from now. Maybe I'll turn into a YouTube fanatic.

The ZR1 and F70 are both very good pocket camera. The the ZR1 is a little simpler to use then the f70.

Yea that's what I have read from this board. I'm wondering how "difficult" using the F70 effectively is. I toyed around with my ISO/flash/macro settings on my now-ancient Canon Powershot SD850IS and didn't think it was very time-consuming or complicated. Wonder if the degree of tweaking is the same for the F70.
