Got the PEN E-PL1. Trying to upgrade firmware for lens and body, connected via USB using Windows 7. Olympus ib software fails to detect camera. ib software downloaded an update, tried again to detect camera, no dice. Downloaded firmware updater from Olympus site, still can't detect camera. Strange. Any advice, I'll continue googling....

IB has issue, goto this link and download the updater. It works well. Olympus tech support sent it to me, when I ran into that issue.

nevermind, I found you have to select "storage" as your USB mode. Seems such an obivous choice now....

Thanks - very excited to start learning and taking some photos with it. Ordered the panasonic lens off of Amazon, bought the camera from a local camera shop here in Phoenix. I really appreciate your suggestions, sample images and review, as well as everyone else's comments on this thread.

I'll post some honeymoon photos when I'm back in July Now I've got a little less than 3 weeks to figure out as much as I can with this new guy.
