I am not sure what the 8000 offers by comparison but it's only $30 more.
Nice catch on the $235.00 and free shipping. I also like the return policy

It seems weird that the 8000 is only 3.6 optical and 12 MP. The 6020 is 14MP and 5 optical

Thanks

Just seen the Pentax online. This one looks more rugged.
Thanks

I looked at the Pentax also when I was considering a ruggedized camera a few months ago. Reviews were poor across the board.

I often take my camera on board. In a baggie. with an elastic around it. the key point was to have a string from it to me so if it fell overboard, it wouldn't be gone. I didn't take pictures when I expected to be man-overboard and if it happened (I often took pictures of kids we pulled on tubes), the camera would really be the least of my concerns. When fishing, we were mostly just sitting still. So my cheap p&s was fine.

Unless you plan to stand in spray, I would suggest just getting a cheap p&s.

I have often wondered that myself. After upgrading I have many camera's I don't use anymore and wondered about trying to sell them.

Now I am looking at the Panasonic like the Z series. I am finding bad reviews on all waterproof cameras. I will just have to be careful not to get it wet.
Thanks

Warren-

A re-seal-able plastic bag protects a camera very nicely. They are cheap, easily obtained, and you can carry a spare. I have used them for years with a sterling record. A nice Panasonic ZS1 at less than $200 could provide lots of features and be nicely protected by a ziplock bag.
