Zs7 arrives tomorrow. Have not shot with the hx5 yet either.

Still in the box.

You're dreaming buddy. Go ahead and ask any owner of both which is better and the S90 will win every time. There's a reason why the HDR trick is needed for low light. As we have learned in your other thread though, you find high NR preferable to noise. Your opinion of "better" is obviously quite different than the majority of users. The HX5V is better in low light than similarly sized traditional CCDs, but it still can't compete with the larger sensors and wider aperture like that in the S90.

Default I don't agree...again!

I just don't see the difference unless I pixel peep at 100% crop or beyond, which I have no interest in doing. I just agree with Dpreview, photographyblog, cameralabs, whatdigitalcamera etc who rate the IQ very highly, thats all, The HX5V doesn't use a ccd sensor but a CMOS sensor, and check out the results in dpreview, see HX5V vs S90 pic on this link http://public.me.com/jostian the S90 just edges the HX5 in image quality (the yellow bit which extends past the green), but in the high ISO/Low light section the HX5 trounces the S90 (the white markers indicate the HX5V's scores).

You're big on charts and quotes but you can't back any of it up with images and you won't accept what's in front of your own eyes. This same discussion has been had 100x over at dpreview and the Sony comes up a loser. I get it though. You paid for it and now you have to convince yourself how great it is.

Look at all the sample pics in that thread you keep replying to on dpreview. They demonstrate the S90's low light superiority over and over again by a decent margin. Yet you keep referencing a review and dismissing the examples right in front of you. No one is saying its bad - just that the S90 is better.

think whatever allows your little mind to feel better, I never said the HX5 has better IQ just that its very good (and yes better than teh S90 in low light as dpreview results confirm but here you are some high ISO shots in a standardised test, check these 3200 ISO shots http://www.imaging-resource.com/PROD...90hSLI3200.HTM & http://www.imaging-resource.com/PROD...5VhSLI3200.HTM quite easy to see the HX5 is better, doesn't take a genius to see that.

I noted that also Jostian, and the CMOS does excellent under certain conditions, I noted that the Fuji HS10 also doe well in Image Resources Comparometer, but in the real world it's a different animal, same as the HX5...the clarity/IQ was better or as good on the HS10 against S90, FZ35, even G11, you could see some of the details had more clarity especially black on white or black on silver...but it lacked in other areas of detail that were important to the average photographer...
