BTW, they're also a pretty good source for manufacturer reconditioned lenses.

My Minolta 28mm f/2 AF lens, and Minolta 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 AF lens were both purchased that way from Cameta.

I could not tell them from brand new lenses (except for the factory reconditioned markings on their boxes, they look and work just like brand new lenses).

They have some bargains on new lenses from time to time, too. For example, I bought a new in the box Vivitar 70-200mm f/2.8-4 Series 1 AF lens from them a while back for $79. :-)

OK, Jim. I think we are both entitle to our opinions. You are happy buying refurbished units from Cameta and I'm happy buying new stuff from Amazon. One last thing, if the refurbish units are so great, how come manufacturers don't give a full one year warranty on them instead of 90 days? I don't care if Cameta or Adorama offer their own extended warranty. That only means if I have a problem, Cameta/Adorama will have who knows who working on my unit. I don't think so!

Actually, from posts here, it seems that, if you return a refurbished unit to Adorama for a failure of some kind during their warranty period, they just replace it with another refurbished unit.

no sorry, I would do a check at the different retail sites to see what their ratings are.

BTW, DigitalRev.Com is in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Anything you buy from them will be "gray market" and the warranty won't be honored if anything goes wrong.

There is only one camera company that the warranty is honored world wide, and that it Olympus. Nikon will not touch a gray market camera in the USA. Most likely the same from the different Nikon regions.

Back in the olden days, companies used to get exclusive rights to import a manufacturer's produts into a country or group of countries. Those companies also offered their own warranties within their territory, and did not honor the warranties of products entering their territory that they did not import. Over the years, many of the manufacturers have grown enough to buy those rights back, or to purchase the importer outright, but many of those other companies continue to operate in other places around the world. Since those other companies won't honor the manufacturer's warranties in those territory, the manufacturers won't honor the warranties on products imported by those other companies and that subsequently appear in the manufacturer's own territory. That's gray market.
