Update: I still did not buy a P&S. I am going to buy a Panasonic but still deciding between the ZS5 and ZS7.

The reasons are: Is the LCD upgrade worth it?

I would say yes. When i bought my zs3 which has a 460.000p LCD as the zs7 (over the zs1 with 230.000 p LCD as the zs5) it was an important factor and i never regret paying the difference.

Maybe I should consider the ZS6 at Costco.

mtclimber: Thanks, this is sure fun trying to decide. I am learning so much in the meantime but also missing so many pictures by not making a decision.

I decided against a ZS6 for the sole reason that it does not have a dedicated movie button. My husband argues that's it's simple enough to switch it on the mode-dial, but we want what we want eh?

ZS5 vs ZS6, the LCD is definitely worth it imho. You don't often realize it until you have the 2 screens side-by-side. The ZS7 has dropped down to around $305 USD at some retailers so the price difference may not be as much you think. I didn't know if you got around to the price hunting phase yet.
