Default Sony TX7 or HX5V

I need help in selecting a new camera. I will be taking pictures of my children mostly (6 year old and 9 month old). I am looking at a Sony camera since I already have memory stick pro duo cards. Thanks for your help!

RD-

The TX-7 seems better than the HX5. If you want the zoom that the HX5 has with better image quality, better WB, and HD video, take a look at the Panasonic ZS5 or ZS7.

I actually ended up selling my HX-5 due to its image quality indoors and its WB problems, where it could never quite get the colors right.

Thank you for your response. I have been to a couple stores and have not found the ZS7. I did have a chance to check out the TX7. After holding it I am not sure that I like it. I did not care for the sliding shutter. I felt it was hard to open. The TX7 is a fingerprint magnet. One of the cameras that I currently use is the Sony T70. I like it but want to upgrade. I also looked at the HX5V and I did like it especially the zoom but after reading some of the comments on here I am very hestiant about it. I will be taking pictures of my children mostly both inside and outside.

Do you have any other suggestions? I had a chance to look at the TX1 and T90. I would prefer to stay with Sony as I have many memory stick pro duo cards. Thanks again!

Sony cams take SDHC cards now which are getting increasingly cheaper. I just bought a Transcend Class 10 8GB for $18.99.

I'm not a fan of Sony's current pocketable cameras (and I have one) so I can't really recommend one.

I found a camera store in my area with the Panasonic ZS7. So I bought it so I could try out all the features. I also bought the HX5V. So far I have compared only a few pictures, mostly of my 6 year old. This is going to be a hard decision. Thanks for all the responses.

Congratulations, RD-

Yours is a good approach to determine which camera will work best for you. Go for it!
