The biggest differences are the upper ISO limit and the selection of lenses and accessories. It depends on what's more important to him.

Not sure. Thought he would have gone for the 1000D like me but somehow he does like the K-x.

I guess it is a newer DSLR with bigger mp and HD etc etc.

Told him to check out some reviews but you know what they are like, some will say good some will say bad etc etc.

koolpc-

Purchasing a DSLR is very much like purchasing autos. Different features and colors seem to appeal to different people.

Ultimately, it comes down to how he feels about the camera. Bells and whistles play as big a role as ergonomics. And when you spend that much on a piece of technology, you want the reassurance of buying something newer.

I bought mine last month. I loves it very much and now I am taking it everywhere I go for those quick photo moments. However the lens kit it came with its not so good (DA-L 18-55mm) so currently I am looking for a better one, perhaps a F or FA series prime lenses (used one would be fine).

bought the pentax-K-x because I read the comments from here. Have serious second thoughts now since I have been owning nikons for so long and am used to its colors. pentax's colors seem kind of off to me..not natural. I am debating whether to return the pentax for the D5000. Any thoughts? thanks.

try playing around with the picture style settings. It is a bit on the magenta side when shooting in low light.
