Default Panasonic Lumix zs6 and vertical purple line?

Hello.

I am trying out the Lumix zs6. While photographing some ceramics in open shade, but a tad of sun starting to come out, occasionally got a vertical, straight, light purple line, visible on the screen (so obviously did not take the picture).

What is this? Was it a reflection from the shiny pottery, and if so, why was it a vertical line?

Also, am trying to learn how to work the manual settings. I got there before, but then could not find it again, if someone knows which controls it takes to get there.

Thank you very much.

clemma-

when shooting into a powerful light source, the sun in this case, it is not unusual to see those line on the LCD. Reposition yourself with regard to the light and that should take care of the problem.

The line will not appear in your photographs but it will appear in videos. This is related to the CCD sensor and will occur with all CCD-based cameras.

Oh, so it would not be in the photo?
I did reposition myself.

My old Nikon coolpix didn't do this. It was a little... strange!

thanks.

BTW, does Canon sx120, etc. have that same sensor? Nikon L110? just wondering.

Clemma-

No, the SX-120 does not have the same imager as the Panasonic ZS6. The imager is the problem for your problem in Panasonic cameras.
