shoturtle,

Do you have any examples of photos of faces/people as I find cameras seem to be able to cope with things with marked contrast, like birds feathers, bricks in walls and clothing, but cope less well with the subtle changes in skin tones/colours and seem to leave them blurred, whilst the hair is often in sharp focus. Presumeably it is the way the digital camera focuses or manipulates the picture. I don't seem to be able to find good examples of faces and as I want to use it mainly to take pictures of my kids it is important to me.

If anyone has examples of faces/people taken with the A450 I would appreciate seeing those as well.

Not really as the K-x is not mine, but my brother. But here are 2 that are with the long lens unedited. They were stop down to f8, so they are sharper then the birds at 5.6

koolpc,

except for the e620, the k-x is easily a better camera then all the other ones you looked at imho. k-x is better then the e620 in low light, the e620 has the better kit lenses and jpeg engine. But as you can see the k-x lenses are no slouch.

Here is a shot that has gradual contrast unlike bird feathers.

I agree. Been reading up on some reviews, yet again tonight, and the K-x gets some really high reviews.

If you can accept the larger body size, it is a decent camera, better then the 1000D or the d3000. Because it is strip down, it is behind the k-x.

So, overall, the K-x is the more up to date camera, better value etc etc? Worth spending the 399 on?
