Yea, you are right. The K-x is the better buy. One thing i noticed with the 1000D was the slow buffer.

Right, managed to get my money back on the 1000D as i 'was' going to by my mates 550D. (Went off the 1000D as it was slow.)
I'm surprised you found it slow. It should be good for 3fps. Were
you shooting raw? That would slow it down a bit.

Today, i get a call off of him. His daughter knocked the camera out of his hand while she was running down the stairs. Suffice to say, it bounced to the bottom and landed on his concrete hallway floor (In the process of extending house).
Ouch!

My wife says i should just buy the Pentax K-x as it does HD video recording thus saving buying a cam. The A450 is still at 299 at the local comet store.
SWMBO is probably right. Time to get the K-x? The camera
shop will be pissed-off if you bring that one back next week
to swap it for the A450

No, i will have to order the K-x online. I did try one locally but the shop manager was a complete baboon.

There is a lot to be said for buying on-line. You get the
benefit of the EU distance selling regulations, which is
not the case if you buy in the High Street.

The K-x + 18-55mm is in the new Argos catalogue at
429.99 (so much cheaper than 430) I don't know how
well that compares to on-line shops.

I can buy it for 379, delivered. Or 399 in the next big city.

Sounds like a good price. Now for the next big choice:
18-55mm or twin lens kit?

18-55mm as i can't afford the twin kit.

I was toying with getting a 1000D body and then a walkabout 18-??? IS lens. Not sure which one though!

Or, stick with the K-x.

Now I am getting confused I thought you had gone off the 1000D.
Having tried the 18-55mm IS, would you say it was a good lens?
There are other options, but most of them are expensive. The
Canon 15-85mm is one of the best, but it costs around 500.

Good camera, but is the lack of illuminated AF indicators
going to be an issue for you?

Yea, returned it as i was about to buy my mates 550D but that got damaged yesterday!!! So back to square one and the shop where i returned the 1000D said they had sold the IS lens that was with it and any more they have in will be non-IS.

I am leaning towards getting the 1000D back. It would be body only and then i would have to choose a nice IS walkabout lens.
